Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer are no longer joining forces on the big screen, as their upcoming movie has reportedly been canceled.

Jennifer Lawrence's Forgotten Feud With Joan Rivers And Kelly Osbourne Got Very Personal
Jennifer Lawrence shared surprisingly harsh words with Joan Rivers and Kelly Osbourne during their forgotten feud.

Why Amy And Jennifer Say Their Script Is Dead

“I don’t think it will ever happen,” Amy said, before going on to say that there’s no bad blood between her and J-Law. Life simply got in the way. “It was just, like, life kept going. My family was going through a rough time. I don’t want to say any more than that.”

Lawrence originally told The New York Times in 2015 that their script was close to completion, though the public didn’t receive any details in the year that followed, until now.

“We’re almost done writing,” Jennifer said at the time. “It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

Of working with Amy, Jen had nothing but praise, adding, “Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages.”

After a misunderstanding about a nickname Jennifer Lawrence gave her, Meryl Streep was eventually able to laugh it off.

While the project may be dead (for now), Amy said she’s hopeful that one day she’ll get to collaborate with Lawrence, which she knows fans would love to see.

“The way we’re hoping our careers go, we might do something with more grit and teeth,” Amy added to Variety.

The actress’s original script was going to see Lawrence and Schumer playing sisters, but Lawrence admits she’s not sure if the characters would suit them now or resonate with fans. “Now that we’re older, a sister comedy might not resonate as much,” Jennifer said. “But we have every intention of working together.”

Lawrence Defended Schumer Again Backlash

Lawrence went on to emphasize that there’s no bad blood between her ad Amy, and they in fact remain good friends, as she defended her collaborator on the criticism she received for supporting Israel amid the Israel-Hamas war.

“Amy’s choice to use her voice to speak for justice puts her under immense fire,” Jennifer said.

“I wouldn’t say she navigates it so much as she throws her middle fingers up and walks away from negative comments like a gas station fire in a Michael Bay movie,” she continued.

The fact J-Law was so quick to defend Amy in their joint interview suggests the two actresses remain close, even if their highly anticipated project is no longer in the works. But with such a close friendship (and established careers in Hollywood), it still seems likely these two will share the silver screen one day soon.
