A resident cat at Simply Cats has won the fifth annual Cadbury Bunny Tryouts: Rescue Pets Edition.

After receiving votes from animal lovers across the country, Crash has been crowned as the winner. He is the first cat to win the contest, and the first pet from Boise to win.

Crash is an 8-year-old cat rescued by the no-kill, feline adoption center after being hit by a car in 2018. He fractured his jaw, leg, and lost an eye. He spent months recovering in the shelter’s care from several surgeries and charmed the staff into staying as a permanent resident. Crash now romps around Simply Cats greeting guests, staff, and volunteers.

“We are over the moon that Crash is the next Cadbury Bunny and has gone from being hit by a car to a TV star,” Maddie Corey, Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator at Simply Cats said. “He’s the perfect pet to represent the resilience of rescue pets, and he is a natural in the spotlight. We appreciate the love and support he’s received from cat lovers nationwide, and the prize and donation money will go a long way in caring for the 1,000+ cats and kittens we’ll care for this year.”

As the winner of the Cadbury Bunny Tryouts: Rescue Pets Edition, Crash will star in the 2023 Cadbury Clucking Bunny Commercial this spring, which debuts on Saturday, Mar. 25, 2023. Additionally, Crash will win a $5,000 prize and an additional $5,000 donation to Simply Cats Adoption Center.
